Gig posters are a sacred tradition among musicians and designers alike, and they're my favorite things to work on. It's wildly satisfying to have a blank slate and no restrictions on what you can do.
While I enjoy working with my corporate clients, I get endless joy from working with musicians, because I can be freakier, and that's what's expected.
When left to my own devices, I scan old film photography books and impose my own brush lettering or typography on top. It's a very physical process most of the time, and I get a ton of enjoyment out of it.
These are some of my favorite gig posters that I've worked on over the past year or so.
